MOSCOW October 30 (Itar-Tass) - The top position given to President Vladimir Putin in the rating of the world most powerful people published by Forbes magazine speaks of Russia's growing role in the international arena, Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Sergei Neverov, who is Secretary of the United Russia General Council, declared on Wednesday.
Vladimir Putin being in the top position in the Forbes rating speaks of high assessment by the international community of Vladimir Putin and the course he pursues in Russia and beyond, Neverov told journalists.
Neverov reminded of the fact that in the past few years only foreign politicians had occupied leading positions on the Forbes list. “The fact that Putin has been placed on top of the world rating by the leading international magazine is the evidence that Russia's role thanks to President Putin has grown to an extent when it can no longer be overlooked by those in the world who have a skeptical attitude to Russia," Neverov said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has been voted the world's most powerful leader, pushing US counterpart Barack Obama to second place, according to Forbes magazine.
In third place is Xi Jinping, the general secretary of the Communist Party of China.
