MURMANSK, October 24 (Itar-Tass) - Russian investigators on Thursday started bringing new charges against Greenpeace activists from the Arctic Sunrise ice-breaker that had been detained near Gazprom’s Prilazlomnaya oil platform in the Pechora Sea off Russia’s northern coast in September, Yulia Pronina, a Greenpeace representative in Russia, told Itar-Tass.

“The Russian Investigation Committee has officially brought new charges against Russian national Andrei Allakhverdov, who is an Arctic Sunrise crewmember,” Pronina went on to say. He is being accused of hooliganism under article 213 (part 2) of the Russian Penal Code. Allakhverdov may get 7 years in prison as maximum punishment.

Charges of hooliganism have also been brought against other Arctic Sunrise activists.
