HOME| NEWS | 18.10.2013 / Lithuania, Russia to hold talks on Lithuanian exports to Russia next week - PM.

VILNIUS, October 17 (Itar-Tass) - Lithuania hopes that the audit of its dairy factories by Russian experts will facilitate an early settlement of the problem with the export of Lithuanian dairy products to Russia, Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius told journalists on Thursday.

“Three experts from Rospotrebnadzor (Russia’s Federal Consumer Rights Protection and Human Health Control Service) will meet our specialists in Lithuania on Monday, October 21,” Butkevicius said.

He expressed the hope that the two sides would manage to specify Russia’s claims to the quality of Lithuanian dairy products, which had led to a ban on their import to Russia starting from October 7, 2013.

Lithuanian presidential adviser Antanas Vinkus, a former Lithuanian ambassador to Russia, said earlier after the meetings in Moscow, there were plans for a round-table discussion with the participation of Lithuanian businessmen and Russian experts, who are also expected to visit Lithuania’s dairy factories and have a look at the conditions of production.
