TALLINN, October 7 (Itar-Tass) - Estonia is not prepared for the introduction of easier rules to cross the Estonian-Russian border to residents of the border regions over the problems with infrastructure, Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet said in the country’s parliament here on Monday.

“The infrastructure problems that cause long queues at the border checkpoints show that Estonia is not prepared to introduce easier border-crossing rules,” he noted. If the Baltic republic takes this step, the queues will become longer, the Estonian foreign minister said.

The Estonian chief diplomat noted that broader capacities of border-crossing are “certainly an important goal,” particularly if the visa-free regime is introduced with Russia in the future.
