HOME| NEWS | 07.10.2013 / Lithuania gets no official information about RF ban of dairy imports-veterinary service chief.

VILNIUS, October 7 (Itar-Tass) - Lithuania has not received official information about Russia’s banning the imports of dairy products from Lithuania, the country’s veterinary service chief Jonas Milius told reporters on Monday.

“Not a single Lithuanian agency or enterprise has received any documents on this matter,” he said. According to the veterinary service chief, contacts with the Russian colleagues until now have been made within the framework of the established procedures and were businesslike in nature. “When any problems with quality arose, we were notified of this and could take the necessary measures in connection with the claims,” Milius stated. He described the current situation as rumour mongering. “This has not happened in the history of our relationship,” Milius said.

Head of the Federal Consumer Rights Protection and Human Health Control Service (Rospotrebnadzor), Russia’s chief sanitary doctor Gennady Onishchenko has announced that Russia has imposed a ban on the import of Lithuanian dairy products due to their non-compliance with quality requirements.
